Salesforce provides different authentication means depending on the cloud / platform.
Sales Cloud / Service Cloud offer the ability to do
- username / password authentication
- delegated authentication (credentials are sent to a 3rd party web service for validation)
- SAML-based federation
- OpenID Connect-based login / federation
Commerce Cloud offers the ability to integrate with Sales Cloud which in turn gives it the abilities aforementioned.
