ISV (Independent Software Vendor) partners are those who build applications for the Salesforce ecosystem rather than simply providing consulting services or one off solutions.
The most obvious sales channel for ISV partner applications is the AppExchange, though it need not be used in all cases.
ISV specific questions may pertain to managed packages, the use of AppExchange and listing management, and checkout/merchant facilities amongst other things.
