I am trying to create a pie chart of percentages on a dashboard that is the grand row total. The closest I can get is a column report.

Here is a mock up of data and pie chart from excel showing desired dashboard pie chart information.

Example mockup from excel

Here is the closest I have been able to get - using summary report with formula fields to calculate percentages, and creating a bucket field row grouping that has only one row value named Asset Class that all rows match. Any way to do this in a pie chart in a dashboard? This solution is not a grand row summary but gets to the same value by reporting only 1 row

A pie chart, by definition, is a percentages chart of the grand total values. I don't believe you'll be able to generate this report output as a pie, since even though your calculations are designed to show the 4 pieces of a whole pie, the charting mechanism doesn't evaluate in the same way.

That being said, if you graph the actual values in the first for columns, you may be able to generate the percentages by changing the format of the chart.

  • Correction, you will NOT be able to graph those values in the pie as I suggested above. I'll continue to test. – HomerJ Oct 19 '15 at 18:48
