hopefully a simple question. I have a fully working V5 connector which is successfully sending triggered emails from the Marketing Cloud!

I have a custom object in SFDC and the trigger is when a new record is added the triggered email is sent. All good so far.

My question is, what attributes are passed from SFDC to SFMC that I can access within the email? I want to start adding personalisation to the email, I'm happy to use AMPScript to lookup salesforce objects, but I need to know what I'm passed from the SFDC trigger first.

  • Any news about this?. I'm having the same problem and I'm not finding any documentation about it. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks! – adek May 4 '17 at 10:29

The integration determines the columns in the Data Extension. Each of those columns should be available to you in the email. You can reference attributes as Personalization Strings (e.g. %%FieldName%%) or in a more fault-tolerant way using AttributeValue() function. Like this:

%%[

 var @fieldName
 set @fieldName = AttributeValue("fieldName")

%%]
<br>Here's the field: %%=v(@fieldname)=%%
<br><br>Fieldname has a value: %%=iif(empty(@fieldname),"true","false"))=%%

  • That doesn't really help I'm afraid. I'm triggering the send off of a custom object in Salesforce. All I need to get is the id of the record that triggered the send. I can get the id of the contact, but if the contact adds two records, then I won't know which one to get the details from. – Paul Gunn Oct 12 '15 at 13:44
  • Any luck with this? I don't see any documentation as of today when I tried to add data into the TSD payload in my dev account – jimxclarke Nov 1 '16 at 17:58
