Users are unable to close cases where it is a child case of an already closed case. What permissions are needed to close child cases?

System admins are able to close all cases.

Users have read, create, edit, and view all access. What other access do users need?

User must have Edit Access on Case object. Also to close multiple cases, 'Manage Access' permission is needed,

  • After giving the profile Manage Case Access they still are not able to close child cases of an already closed case – TemporaryFix Aug 24 '15 at 15:29
  • Check if Parent Case owner and Child Case owner shares Case record with user's role(User who wants to close the case). – salesforcewithfunforce Aug 24 '15 at 15:31
  • "Users in this role can edit all cases associated with accounts that they own, regardless of who owns the cases" - this is the permission on the role – TemporaryFix Aug 24 '15 at 15:35
  • This probably related to the user's role and the Org Wide Sharing rules in your system. The Org Wide Sharing is probably set to Public Read Only. See if this is the case. If it is, you will need to set up a Case Sharing rule to allow users with this role to have read/write access to cases that they do not own (or are not owned by someone below them in the role hierarchy). Also what type of Edition are you using? – salesforcewithfunforce Aug 24 '15 at 16:03
  • Performance Edition. The sharing settings are private with Grant Access Using Hierarchies checked off – TemporaryFix Aug 24 '15 at 16:25
