I have a Publisher action that works fine in the sandbox. However, in production, it does not load and displays the error as a comment in the HTML:

apex:emailPublisher - send email is not available for current user. Please verify your setup.

Things I double-checked:

  • My user is assigned the standard System Administrator profile
  • Email deliverability is set to All Email
  • I have verified that I can send an email using the standard Send an Email button on a record.
  • No errors or exception occur
  • Both sandbox and production are on Spring '15.
  • VF page and extension are on the same API version (v31) and match the setup in the sandbox

VF page:

<apex:page showHeader="false" sidebar="false" standardController="Case" extensions="CaseEmailPublisherExt">
  <script type='text/javascript' src='/canvas/sdk/js/publisher.js'/>
  <script type='text/javascript' src='/soap/ajax/31.0/connection.js'/>
  <script>
    function updateCase(){
      // Do stuff
    }
  </script>

  <apex:form>
    <apex:emailPublisher entityId="{!case.id}"
      fromAddresses="{! FromAddresses}"
      fromVisibility="selectable"
      subjectVisibility="editable"
      subject="Test"
      toVisibility="editableWithLookup"
      toAddresses="{! ToAddresses}"
      ccVisibility="editableWithLookup"
      showTemplates="true"
      emailBodyFormat="HTML"
      onSubmitSuccess="updateCase();"
      onSubmitFailure="updateCase();"/>
  </apex:form>
</apex:page>

The problem was that the Case Feed had not yet been enabled, which this Publisher Action relies on. Turning that on fixed the problem.

    If this approach solved the problem, can you accept your answer so the system no longer considers this an open question? – Adrian Larson Feb 7 '17 at 15:55
