We have an org that's connected to an external system (ERP). Some of our orders (due to business requirements) need to be inputted through our external system, then pushed to Salesforce (where our orders are processed). This is working as expected.
The issue is that the TotalTaxAmount field on the Order Product is not editable via the API. We need a way to populate this field because it rolls up to set the TotalTaxAmount on the Order object. We want a way to have Salesforce Calculate the Taxes, is this possible using standard functionality?
Here are some things I've tried:
I've tried creating Order Product Tax Line Items via Anonymous Apex and the UI. (Schema Seen Below.)
When I tried to manually create a tax line item, I kept getting this error (below) where I could see/search for order items, but when selecting them the picklist doesn't accept the item, and keeps reverting to a blank state. I'm assuming this is due to some sort of configuration issue, but im not sure how to fix it.
I'm not even sure that Order Product Tax Line Item is the correct approach. So that's why im wondering if there's a way to have Salesforce Calculate the Taxes, is this possible using standard functionality? Or is the only way to calculate taxes on orders inputted from an external system through an app exchange app or custom development?
