I'm having a tough time setting up a dynamic sender profile for just the sender name. I have 3 different data extensions needed to pull the information together.

"CLM Call Data Filtered" is the data extension I am sending to. The attribute "mdmid" relates to my subscribers.

"BR_Call" is a non-sendable data extension that holds key pieces of data; "Territory_vod__c" and "External_id_vod__c" (this is the same as mdmid).

"TerritoryVOD" is a non-sendable data extension that holds the list of Sales Reps with a code for the territory; "Territory_vod__c" (same as the attribute in "BR_Call") and "SalesRep"

What I am trying to do is send to the "CLM Call Data Filtered" data extension, but have the "SalesRep" filed appear in the sender name in my dynamic sender profile. Below is what i've tried with the dynamic sender profile and have run into issues.

%%[var @Territory set @Territory = Lookup('BR_Call','Territory_vod__c','External_Id_vod__c','@mdmid') var @SalesRep set @SalesRep = Lookup('TerritoryVOD','SalesRep','Territory__vodc__c',@Territory)]%% %%=v(@SalesRep)=%%

sfmc doesn't give me an error message with this, but when I preview and test send the email it is never able to send it. I check in the tracking for test sends and it shows the test send with 0 sends.

"TerritoryVOD" can be linked to "BR_Call" through the common Territory_vod__c field. and "BR_Call" can be linked to "CLM Call Data Filtered" through the common "mdmid/External_id_vod__c" fields.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • are those addresses in the DE all verified or is the domain registered? – EazyE Nov 19 at 15:32
  • I'm only looking to have a dynamic sender name, but the sending email will be the exact same for all of them which is verified. – RunRabbit Nov 19 at 15:51
  • Is mdmid a profile attribute? Also, I'd tipically test my ampscript in the body of any email to check the assignment of @SalesRep to detect any problem with my script. – Javier De Mauri Nov 19 at 16:33
  • mdmid is used as the subscriber key and is also in the two data extensions, CLM Call Data Filtered, and BR_Call but in this DE it is called External_id_vod__c – RunRabbit Nov 19 at 17:00
  • It looks like Lookup('BR_Call','Territory_vod__c','External_Id_vod__c','@mdmid') might me taking '@mdmid' literal and not the value – Javier De Mauri Nov 19 at 18:24

Does the code %%=v(@SalesRep)=%% work in the body of the email? Assuming it works you could save it as a separate content block and in sender profile Name enter the ContentBlockbyKey %%=ContentBlockbyKey("myContentBlock")=%%. https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.noversion.mc-programmatic-content.meta/mc-programmatic-content/contentblockbykey.html

  • I've been playing around with the AMPscript in the body of an email and using the preview. While I don't get errors when trying the preview, I also don't have any text that displays in the email where the value should be printed. – RunRabbit Nov 19 at 23:40
  • Did you set @mdmid somewhere? You might want to just set it as a literal value from the DE as a placeholder until you get the values properly displayed in the body. Also I would add a %%=v(@Territory)=%% in the body to be sure that line works. It looks like you would need to address territory for salesrep to work. – Jen Dietrich Nov 21 at 22:01
