We're running into an issue where Customer Community users cannot edit contact records, even though this page says they can: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=users_license_types_communities.htm&type=5

We have set up a Customer Community using Build Your Own template and we are using Customer Community licenses. We want the community user to be able edit contact records that are linked to the portal account. We don't need the user to edit their own contact record, just the other contacts that are in the account.

We've set up a standard object page in the Community Builder to show the contact detail record. However, when the user tries to edit the contact, we get either "insufficient access rights on object id" for inline edit, or "You do not have the level of access necessary" with the Edit button.

I've double-checked the profile permissions (CRE on Contact, Edit on all fields), the OWD sharing (Controlled by Parent for External Sharing) and the Sharing Set (R/W on Account, Contact is not available as a choice).

Has anyone else run into this? Do I need to change the Contact external sharing OWD to Private? I'm concerned will affect our Customer Community Plus users, who are a separate set of users.
