Env info:

  • Eclipse 4.9.0
  • Mac High Sierra 10.13.6
  • Java 1.8.0_181

Problem: After installing the Force.com IDE and changing perspective getting a failure when trying to create a new project.

  • File/New Force.com project (doesn't do anything)
  • File/New Project... opens the Create Force.com (oddly it takes two clicks of the Force.com entry in the selection wizard)
  • After filling in the required info--proj name, login info, environment nothing happens when clicking the Next button. No error messages. Nothing.
  • Have you managed to install force.com ide package from the repository ? – Pranay Jaiswal Nov 20 '18 at 19:55
  • Yes. I installed the force.com IDE package. This at least partially worked, as I see the Force.com perspective and Force.com shows up as an option under File/New Project – el Jeffe Nov 20 '18 at 23:13
  • Found the same issue on the Eclipse Forum. The user was referred force.com and the question remains unanswered. eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/1096177 – el Jeffe Nov 20 '18 at 23:17

Oddly, Eclipse Proton exhibited exactly the same failing behavior as Eclipse 4.9.0.

I resolved the issue by switching to Eclipse Oxygen Release (4.7.3a).

Seems like version not being compatible issue.

I was facing the same issue as well and resolved it by moving to Eclipse Neon.
