The formula expression is invalid: Formula result is data type (Date), incompatible with expected data type (Date/Time). I tried TODAY()

  • Can you clarify with more details as what/where are you trying to configure the formula? If you use TODAY() with return type as Date, that will work. If you want a return type of DateTime, even that's available when you create a formula. – Jayant Das Oct 8 '18 at 15:21

The formula function TODAY() returns a Date value. If you need the current Date and Time, you want NOW(), which returns a Date/Time value.

The formula function you need here is NOW() - this similar to TODAY() in that it returns the appropriate value when the formula is assessed, but it will return a date/time rather than just a Date.
