We have a request to modify the Record Type Label and API name. Before I do that I would like to check in my Org. if its referenced anywhere like validation rules, formula field, workflows or process builder.

E.g. CONTAINS($RecordType.Name, "Some Developer")

Is there any way that I do this kind of search in the whole org. using Force.com IDE or workbench or any other tool?

  • You can get the metadata and check it there. Why you want to change api name or the debeloper name? Changing label will do mostvof the wirk – Avijit Chakraborty Aug 3 '18 at 2:37
  • Just to make it consistent. We have recently pushed this record type and there is nothing much happened on this. But would like to confirm by doing a search of this. – Kanikala Aug 3 '18 at 2:43
  • Your best bet is to extract the metadata and use an editor (say force.com ide) to search the references. – Jayant Das Aug 3 '18 at 3:19
  • The quickest way to accomplish this is to download the project using a Force.com IDE. Use the local search within the code editor, to search for a specific name which will return matches across all the metadata component types. – Jigar Shah Aug 3 '18 at 6:00
