I want to get list of available Custom Settings using SF API in Java.

I mean Setup > Build > Develop > Custom Settings > Get that list

Additionally, I need to have got the condition in query, for example

WHERE SetupOwnerId IN :SetupOwnerIds

Yes, you can do it using REST API. I would suggest using Workbench to play with Salesforce REST API and then code it in JAVA as Workbench is easier to play with Salesforce REST API.

As you might already be knowing, Custom setting is like any other Custom object. So the REST URL to access custom object is /services/data/v43.0/sobjects

The above will give you a list of all Sobjects the Org has and then you parse through the response and filter only those object where the attribute customSetting: true

  • Thanks, can I ask can I do the same in SOAP API? – v2048c Jul 26 '18 at 10:56
  • I don't have the set up ready in my system but i think it would be a easy thing to try. If you have SOAP UI in your system and have already downloaded the enterprise wsdl then you can try to read all the Sobjects and then see if you find the above attributes ( e.g. Customsetting :true) for Custom settings. I don't see any reason why it would not be available for SOAP – Ansuman Jul 26 '18 at 11:02
  • I've done javap com.sforce.ws.wsdl.Schema and I don't see a getGlobalDescribe() function in list (v42) – v2048c Jul 26 '18 at 11:08
  • Hmm, I think it could works: developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.api.meta/api/… – v2048c Jul 26 '18 at 11:10
