I'm stumped on this one. The "Log a call" button does not seem to appear on my lead page (Lightning).

log a call missing

  • I've made sure to add the "log a call" button to the page layout (mobile & lightning actions)
  • I have no record types on the task object
  • the "log a call" button appears in classic within the chatter publisher
  • "log a call" is available in the global actions

One thing to note is that within my related list component, the open activities and activity history is missing, even though they are on the page layout. In addition, if I add a single related list for either the open activities and activity history, it does show up.

  • do you see in classic the activity history list with the Log a call button? – Itai Shmida Jul 12 '18 at 8:53
  • @ItaiShmida - Yes – willard Jul 12 '18 at 13:12
  • strange, seems like this should work – Itai Shmida Jul 12 '18 at 13:13
  • I think for leads (and contacts), you can't have "Post" and "Log a Call" within the same tab group. The task object has a "related to" field and Leads are not included as a valid sobject type. I guess the workaround would be to have two components on the page: one for activities, the other for chatter. Not ideal. – willard Jul 12 '18 at 13:37

This is related to organization set up. i just faced the issue. Please see this . If you have record type in task and event and set up is referring master under user interface -> global action the button wont appear.

New Event, Log a Call, New Task are missing from the Activity related actions on the Activity tab in Lightning Knowledge Article Number 000247872 Description When viewing the Activity composer related list, you may notice that some activity actions within the lightning experience do not appear on records even though those actions have been added to the Salesforce for iOS and Android and Lightning Experience Actions section.

-New Event
-New Task -Log a Call

If any of the actions above are missing and you have checked the page layouts to ensure they have been added, then it may be related to not associating a record types with any of those 3 specific global actions.

To confirm this,

1) -In the Lightning Experience, Setup Home | User Interface | Global Actions | Global Actions -In Aloha Classic, Setup | Global Actions 2) Click Edit next to any of the missing global actions (New Event, New Task, Log a Call) 3) Look at the 'Record Type' pick list and see if the selected value is Not one of your custom record types or if it says --Master--

To resolve the issue, you will have up update the Record Type to be set to a default value that is one of the custom record types. --Master-- will not work.

Note: If you have no custom record types for these objects (Tasks, Events) then you won't be able to select any Record Type. If you do have custom record types, it needs to be associated with the global action to work in the lightning experience under the Activity composer.

  • Hey, for me - it just turned out to be the fact that there are different components for chatter vs. activities. I thought all of them would show up within one component. – willard Dec 1 '18 at 1:14
  • If you have any manage package like our org you might got from there as well but there should be only one with feed item yes and if that missing in page layout it wont appear the standard activity tab in lightning – Avijit Chakraborty Dec 7 '18 at 2:07
