I am trying to extract the FlowDefinition of a process flow using workbench and I couldn't get to it. This is what I tried so far:

Logged-in to Workbench(Sandbox) >> Metadata Types & Components >> FlowDefinition(from Dropdown) >> Found my process flow's definition here. When I click on the flow Id to extract, I was redirecting to a new browser window. Here I cannot find the Object type: FlowDefinition/ProcessDefintion/WhateverProcessFlow to extract the definition.

The problem here I am trying to solve is: Trying to extract the definition of a process flow(hopefully in XML) to document the current implementation.

If workbench doesn't work, is there any way I can extract a FlowDefinition? Like using a SOQL query?

  • You can extract Flow XML source in Workbench by using the Metadata API with an appropriately crafted package.xml or with any IDE. Is there a specific reason you want to use SOQL? – David Reed May 3 '18 at 17:45
