Problem Statement

Requirement is to update parent record multi-select picklist value, if a user updates child record multi-select picklist values. Parent field should only be updated if the child record has a value.

Solution implemented

I created a process builder to achieve the goal but receiving the following error:

The formula expression is invalid: Field Version is a multi-select picklist field. Multi-select picklist fields are only supported in certain functions.

Snapshot of what I am doing in the process builder is given below

Salesforce documentation specifies that one could use multi-select picklists in certain formulas but I don't understand why am I receiving this error then.

Scenario: As per the business requirement we have to copy the multi-select picklist field values of the Product object to multi-select picklist field of Opportunity object via process builder. This should happen only when the record is created.

So, we have created a process builder on the opportunity and given "no criteria" and then using a field reference option given a reference of Product object multi-select field. Now, whenever we create a new opportunity record it copies the values form product.

This worked for us. :) Hope this helps you as well.

Thank you.
