We have an external process that generates an email (still Classic Content, but want to move to Content Builder), extracts the recipients from Salesforce, creates a data extension and sends to it.

What we can't figure out is how to create the IERs and sending records in Sales Cloud. The Marketing Cloud Bridge is configured correctly, and our UI-driven sends create the IERs. SubscriberKey is set to the Contact ID.

Given there is [a checkbox in Journey Builder(https://salesforce.stackexchange.com/a/176537/23932) and another in Marketing Cloud Connector to "Send tracking data to Sales Cloud" and get the IERs created, is there a SOAP API field I have overlooked to enable this on our API call?

Make sure that the Data Extensions used for sending are created to Salesforce Data Extension folder.

Another thing is that your Marketing Cloud Connector is upgraded to latest version and the tokens haven't expired.

The MC API can't create Data Extensions in the Salesforce Data Extension folder. The error is: "Unable to save data extension into a non-data extension category. The category provided was of type salesforcedataextension."
