Can someone help us please. The requirement is, once the Closed case was reopened and then Closed it again the Closed Date/Time should return to its original Closed Date/Time when the case was closed for the first time.

We created a field Date/Time and a Workflow rule that everytime the Closed Date/Time ischanged, a Field update will fire. The Field update is change the created field to the formula PRIORVALUE(ClosedDate).

Here is our workflow criteria:

AND( ISCHANGED(ClosedDate),
ISPICKVAL(Status, "Closed") )

Field Update:

Created field (Date/Time datatype) will have a formula like this. PRIORVALUE(ClosedDate)

Thank you in advanced!

  • when you reopen a case, is the value of CloseDate null or non-null? – cropredy Jun 15 '17 at 16:36

I think you may need a field to store the original Closed Date/Time when the case was closed for the first time. Then you can populate this value to ClosedDate when the case was closed again. So there may need 2 workflows, one fire when the case first closed and the other one fire when the case closed again(condition: the first closed time is not null).
