I am creating a report on Object1__c. I have more than 3 users in my account.

When I create a report, I am trying to filter with the value of current user's custom field value.

User is the parent to Object1__c & also Object2__c.

I am planning to update current user custom field (project name) from object__2(which is the parent of object1__c). In object2__c single user having a single record only.

How use current user custom field value in Object1__c filter from object2__c or from user.

You need to create a formula field on the object you are reporting on, and then filter report on that field.

Formula fields can evaluate the running users fields using the $user global variable, or any other user relationships on the object using standard dot notation.

For user relationships you could use a custom report type and add the user field(s) via lookup, but for the running user only option is to use a formula field.

  • Formula field cjanges do not trigger record updates, they are only evaluated at run time. – gorav May 29 '17 at 11:51
