As some of you may know Salesforce has this functionality called Google Docs for Salesforce which allows you to associate google docs with existing salesforce records. The only major problem is that I am unable to associate new google docs to records in Lightning Experience as the "add google doc" button is missing from the related list.

To get around this I tried creating a Flow and adding a flow component to the lead record page, so that our customers could associate a google doc to a lead record without having to leave lightning. I have tried multiple times but none of them work. This is a major requirement for a client of mine so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Below are pictures of my build:

  • If you switch back to classic after running this flow do you see the result? If so the object is likely not be supported in lightning. – gorav May 26 '17 at 19:35

I'm not sure if you can or can't do this via flow, but the reason (I believe) that they didn't bring this to Lightning is that files connect supersedes it.

And w the spring release, users can now (once authenticated) post a link to a Google doc in chatter and it will automagically create a file reference.

I wish they had that for box,but alas it's not even on the roadmap.

But it should work for you and may be a better option in the long run.

I've never seen the googledoc object, will see if I can find any documentation on it.

I finally got the flow to work. I just createc a custom variable for the lead id and passed it to the flow in the app builder. – Victor Mora May 27 '17 at 5:39
