I am looking to create a formula field that combines the Opportunity Amount (a currency) with two other text fields for a mail merge document. I am wondering if there is a way to reference a currency field as is with the text. For instance, I'd like the formula to read as $30.00 in honor of my friends. Is this possible. My formula is below. Hope it helps.

TEXT(Amount)&" "&TEXT(Tribute_Options__c)&" "&Tribute_Description__c&" "&Other_Notes__c
  • What's not working with your current formula? – Adrian Larson Mar 9 '16 at 4:28
  • Currently the TEXT(Amount) only gives the numerical value for example "30" instead of "$30.00" – Medhanie Habte Mar 9 '16 at 7:09

I believe you can use the field CurrencyISOCode in your formula to get the Currency code.

TEXT(CurrencyISOCode) & " " &TEXT(Amount)&" "&TEXT(Tribute_Options__c)&" "&Tribute_Description__c&" "&Other_Notes__c

This picklist CurrencyISOCode will be available if MultiCurrency is enabled in your organization. If not, then you can directly add the currencyISOCode.

Result : INR 20.26 TRIBUTEOPTION TDESCRIPTION NOTES

If you want $ then you can use CASE statement to get the Symbols however I am not sure about support of the symbols on Salesforce UI. $ will be supported but other symbols might not be.
