I have created a lightning components tab and wanted to surface it to users by adding to the Sales app but users are not seeing it. However If they go to App Launcher--> Other Items, they see the tab. However If I create a new custom app and add the tab, they see the tab as part of the custom app.

Can't we add Lightning Components Tab to existing apps like Sales? Should we always a custom app to surface lightning components tabs.

Would appreciate any feedback.

  • Are you trying to config in salesforce classic? If so, how did you add the lightening components tab into a custom app in the first place? Help text on the lightening component tabs quote "You can't access the Lightning Component tab outside of Salesforce1. For example, you can't access the Lightning Component tab from the full Salesforce site" – sam_s Mar 7 '16 at 16:47
  • I am talking about lightning experience not salesforce classic. – sdondeti Mar 7 '16 at 17:17
  • You can add Lightning Components Tab to existing apps also. I was able to add it to all the apps in my Dev Org. – salesforce Developer Oct 27 '17 at 16:34

You can now add a Lightning App to a Visualforce page and have it show up in Classic. It is a little slower than I'd like, but works fine in my testing.

However, you can't, to my knowledge add a new "left-side" tab on Lightning Experience UI for your custom app. You'll need to provide a link like:

https://YOUR-ORG.lightning.force.com/c/YOURAPP.app

Which it sounds like you're doing from your App Launcher already.
