Is there a way to do a Mass Update of the Record Type Selection flag on the User (Set Up >My Personal Information > Record Type Selection > Set Opportunity = True for multiple users)

In what object this information stored and can I use Data Loader or something similar to Update the Record Type for many users?

Thanks in Advance,

Ed

You can set the available and default record type for objects within the user's Profile settings. You can mass update the record type of existing records(lead, opportunity, etc.) using dataloader like any other field. The parameter to pass is the record type ID, not the name however.

  • Thanks for the answer. Just clarifying, I am not trying to update the Record Type on any Object, what I am trying to do is to set up the Record Type Selection (Data Type) flag on the User Personal Info, so that the Users are not prompt to Select a Record Type when a new Opportunity is created. In other words instead of asking each user individually to to go into (Set Up >My Personal Information > Record Type Selection and check the Opportunity Record Type box, I want to do it as a mass update for all Users. – user28001 Jan 20 '16 at 21:35
  • If a given user profile has only one record type assigned to it in its permissions, users will not be prompted to select a record type. – Ian Jan 21 '16 at 14:09
  • exactly my point I have more than 1 Record Type and that is why I need to figure it out how to do the mass update that I am referring to. Thanks – user28001 Jan 21 '16 at 15:17
