Nov 15, 2013 at 21:24 | comment | added | TamaraU | Thanks! I think I got the case function, but it only seems to work with the first expression of the BLANKVALUE. The purpose of using the BLANKVALUE is because I'm comparing values from a picklist (Nombre_de_la_Entidad__r.Type) and its depending picklist (Nombre_de_la_Entidad_r.Subtipo_c)
Nov 15, 2013 at 21:09 | comment | added | Scott Pelak | hmmm, i'm not sure if my code makes business sense. the basic jist of getting it to work is in my answer though
Nov 15, 2013 at 21:07 | comment | added | Scott Pelak | yup, edited. i missed the end of the first CASE and had to lookup BLANKVALUE to make sure the parameters were correct.

@amatorVitae: I think there's one other thing here: The first case shouldn't have the - ; shouldn't its default value be the second CASE? If Subtipo_c is blank, it returns - , and then Blankvalue returns - .
