On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I have been with this community for more than 4 years and its been remarkable time .I have contributed my best to help folks with answers , done reviews of questions and actively flagged ones that I have felt can harm the quality of this site .

I spend lot of my personal time here and the best part is I am still curious and want to be associated by helping folks here .I feel Stackexchange has a long long way to go still .If you think I can add value as a moderator feel free to nominate ,if not no worries :).

In case I am given the responsibility of moderation here are some of the key areas I will be focusing

  • Promoting wherever applicable among the dev community the importance of posting questions on salesforce stackexchange

  • Help resolve any unexpected disputes

  • Take some challenging questions on the platform and help the community

  • Reduce number of duplicate questions and moderate flagged questions on daily basis

Please consider the following:

  • I've been active on SF.SE for 4 years. This is where I "cut my teeth" and learned from many of the greats in this ecosphere. I've always believed in "giving forward" and that's why I continue to return. This is the place I consider "home". Were it not for my involvement in SF.SE, I know I would not have been inducted as a Salesforce MVP with the Summer 2016 class.
  • Many will remember when I posted the snippets I've used for years that others now frequently use to politely welcome new members to SF.SE while also helping them learn how our forum works. I've consistently encouraged this kind of behavior. I was also proactive in helping set our policy on Trailhead questions.
  • I feel as though I've played an instrumental part in welcoming many people to this forum. I've patiently gone back & forth with users on questions to help them "learn to fish"; to understand the concepts they were missing as they debugged their code & worked through their issues.
  • We've become increasingly self-moderating as the number of users with reputation and a sense of ownership for this place has grown. I want to help foster and shepherd that growth.

No matter who gets elected our next moderator, it won't change my commitment to this forum. Ringing self-endorsement, I know. But I take moderation here seriously. I want our community to shine! I already moderate our questions and answers plenty:

  • Marshal and then some (~750 accepted flags)
  • Steward for Close Votes, Low Quality Posts, and First Posts
  • Copy Editor badge and nearly twice as many edits as anyone else
  • Closing in on the first Illuminator badge site-wide

I also place a high value on community feedback and giving people a say in what moderation philosophy we want to hold to here, with 34 Questions and 39 Answers on Meta.

I try to model the behavior we want here in being patient and fair. Comment templates go a long way towards that goal. I often guide our new users to visit the [help] and read [ask] to give them a better sense for how to add quality content. I also provide concise, specific guidance on what to change.

Some fear that a prolific user becoming moderator will lessen their contribution to the community. I think it will simply offer a different set of responsibilities.

Hi Community Members,

I would like to nominate myself and take my chance to contribute the community to the next level.

Why Me?

SFSE is a very good learning resource, & would like to consider me one of the part of its success stories

Started from Stackoverflow, I learned skills of moderation & etiquettes of welcoming users seeking for help.

My timezone gives perfect time slot for monitoring site activities.

I spend a min. of 3-4 hrs/day on SFSE. I will be handling as many flags as possible for me.

What will I do as mod?

The same thing I've always done, but being a moderator, my participation will be with more power & enthusiasms.

I'll organize posts, fix broken sentences, guide users etc. Encourage to follow best practices on the site which would increase the quality of posts

My Background:

I feel a great happiness to see talented users contributing the community. I have been here for more than 3.5 yrs. and got enough understanding of things to do. I have enough visibility over things which can happen on the site and how we can resolve quickly
